Pre-Care Advice for Semi-Permanent Makeup Services
To ensure the best possible results for your semi-permanent makeup procedure, please carefully follow the pre-care advice outlined below. Proper preparation is key to achieving beautiful, long-lasting results.
General Pre-Care Instructions
-
Avoid Retinol and Exfoliating Products:
- Stop using any products containing Retinol (Vitamin A), glycolic acid, or exfoliants at least 2 weeks before your appointment.
-
No Blood Thinners:
- Avoid medications and supplements that thin the blood (e.g., Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Fish Oil) for at least 48 hours prior to your treatment.
- If you are on prescribed blood thinners, consult with your doctor before booking.
-
No Alcohol, Caffeine, or Drugs:
- Refrain from consuming alcohol, caffeine, or recreational drugs for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as these can increase bleeding and affect results.
-
Stop Lash/Brow Growth Serums:
- If you are using lash or brow growth serums, stop at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment, as they can make the skin more sensitive.
-
Avoid Sun Exposure and Tanning:
- Stay out of the sun and avoid tanning beds for at least 1 week before your treatment. Sunburned or overly tanned skin cannot be treated.
-
No Chemical Peels or Facials:
- Avoid any chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or medical facials for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.
-
Medications and Medical Conditions:
- If you have any medical conditions, allergies, or are taking medications, please let me know in advance.
- If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or undergoing chemotherapy, semi-permanent makeup services cannot be performed.
-
Healthy Skin Only:
- Do not book your appointment if you have active cold sores, acne, eczema, or any skin irritations in the treatment area. Contact me to reschedule when your skin has healed.
-
For Clients with Previous Semi-Permanent Makeup:
- If you have had previous work done elsewhere, you must contact me with clear photos of the area before booking. This is to ensure I can work over the existing pigment.
- Failure to do so may result in your appointment being canceled, and your deposit will be forfeited.
Specific Pre-Care by Treatment Area
For Eyebrows:
- Do not wax, thread, or tint your eyebrows for at least 1 week before the appointment.
- Avoid Botox or fillers in the brow area for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.
For Lip Blush:
- If you are prone to cold sores, take a preventative antiviral medication (e.g., Zovirax or Acyclovir) 3 days before and 3 days after your appointment. Speak to your GP or pharmacist about this.
- Keep your lips well hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment (use a lip balm or coconut oil).
- Avoid dry, cracked, or peeling lips. Exfoliate gently with a sugar scrub if needed a few days beforehand.
For Eyeliner:
- Remove lash extensions at least 48 hours before your appointment.
- Do not wear mascara or any eye makeup on the day of your treatment.
- Avoid using lash serums for 2 weeks before treatment, as they can cause sensitivity.
On the Day of Your Appointment
- Come with a clean face and no makeup on the treatment area.
- Avoid wearing contact lenses for eyeliner treatments. Bring glasses if necessary.
- Eat a light meal beforehand to avoid feeling lightheaded.
Important Notes
- Failure to follow the above pre-care instructions may result in poor results or your appointment being rescheduled.
- Results are not always 100% guaranteed as healing can vary based on individual skin types, lifestyle, and aftercare.
- If you have any concerns or questions before your appointment, please contact me directly.
