After-Care Advice for Semi-Permanent Makeup Services

Proper aftercare is essential for achieving beautiful, long-lasting results from your semi-permanent makeup treatment. Please follow the instructions below carefully to ensure optimal healing and retention of pigment.

General After-Care Instructions

  1. Keep the Area Clean and Dry:

    • Avoid water, sweat, and moisture on the treated area for 7 days.
    • Do not wash, rub, or touch the area unnecessarily. Use a clean cotton pad or tissue if you must gently pat the area.
  2. No Makeup or Skincare on the Area:

    • Avoid applying makeup, creams, serums, or lotions to the treated area for at least 7 days to prevent infection.
  3. Do Not Pick, Scratch, or Rub:

    • Light scabbing or flaking is normal during the healing process. Do not pick or scratch as this can cause scarring or pigment loss.
  4. Avoid Sun Exposure and Tanning:

    • Stay out of direct sunlight, tanning beds, and UV exposure for at least 2 weeks.
    • Once healed, apply SPF 30+ to protect the treated area from fading.
  5. Avoid Sweating and Heat Exposure:

    • Avoid heavy exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and swimming for 7-10 days. Sweating can cause the pigment to fade unevenly.
  6. No Chemical Treatments:

    • Avoid facials, chemical peels, laser treatments, or any exfoliating procedures for 4 weeks after treatment.
  7. No Retinol or Exfoliants:

    • Avoid using any products containing Retinol, glycolic acid, or exfoliating agents near the treated area for at least 4 weeks.
  8. Healing Timeline:

    • Initial healing typically takes 7-14 days, but full results can take up to 4-6 weeks.
    • Expect the pigment to look darker immediately after treatment, then lighten as the skin heals.

Specific After-Care by Treatment Area

For Eyebrows:

  • Gently pat the brows with a clean dry tissue to remove any excess lymph fluid for the first 2-3 hours after the procedure.
  • Starting the day after your treatment, gently clean your brows once a day using a damp cotton pad soaked in cooled, previously boiled water. Pat the area dry with a clean tissue, then apply a rice-sized amount of the healing ointment provided. Repeat this daily for 7-10 days.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face or touching the brows while they heal.
  • After the scabs fall off naturally (around 7-10 days), the brows may look lighter. This is normal, as the pigment will settle over the next few weeks.

For Lip Blush:

  • Keep lips moisturised at all times using a recommended ointment (e.g., vitamin E cream, coconut oil, or a healing balm).
  • Avoid spicy, salty, or acidic foods for the first 3-5 days as they may irritate the lips. Drink liquids through a straw during this period.
  • Do not expose lips to extreme cold, heat, or wind while healing.
  • If prone to cold sores, continue using your antiviral medication for 3-5 days after the procedure.

For Eyeliner:

  • Avoid wearing contact lenses, mascara, or eye makeup for at least 7 days.
  • Use a clean,  cotton pad or tissue to gently wipe away any excess lymph fluid during the first few hours.
  • Use Q-tip to gently clean inside corners of your eyes.
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes, as this can interfere with healing.
  • Do not use lash growth serums or false lashes until the area is fully healed (at least 4 weeks).

What to Expect During Healing

  • Days 1-2: Treated area will appear darker, swollen, and possibly tender.
  • Days 3-7: Light scabbing or flaking may occur. The pigment may appear uneven or patchy during this stage—this is normal.
  • Days 7-14: Scabs will naturally fall off, and the pigment may look lighter or “faded.”
  • Weeks 4-6: The pigment will fully settle, and the true colour will appear. A touch-up appointment may be needed to perfect the results.

Long-Term Care

  • Protect the area from sun exposure: Always use SPF 30+ after healing to prevent fading.
  • Avoid harsh skincare products, exfoliation, or laser treatments directly over the treated area.
  • Results typically last 1-3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Regular touch-ups will help maintain your results.

Touch-Up Appointments

  • A touch-up session is recommended 4-8 weeks after your initial treatment to perfect the results for additional charge.
  • Failure to attend a touch-up appointment may result in uneven pigment or faster fading.

Important Notes

  • Results vary based on skin type, lifestyle, and adherence to aftercare.
